Fall 2009 AM Meetup Guide

The first semi-annual AM Meetup in Santa Cruz, CA is approaching (October 9th-11th), and we've been getting together some guides to Santa Cruz and the Fall 2009 AM Meetup.

So far we've posted up a motel guide, food/liquor guide, points of interest map, and the main event map. Pod Six will probably be littered with droogs sleeping on the floor, so we'll probably be partying at your motel once we clog the toilets at our place. To recap the plan:

Friday Night: We're going downtown to check out a movie or two and get a drink or two while we're at it

Saturday: We're headed over to the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk to ride a couple rides and mostly hang out in the arcade.

Saturday Night: The Main Event! We're going to converge on the local pub. There's pinball, billiards, darts, foosball, and free WiFi

Sunday: Enjoy Santa Cruz and the surrounding areas. We'll have a "Points of Interest" map for you to help plan your day.

I think I have found a ride out there but it would involve bringing my girl and her two boys. Think that would be a problem? We don't mind drinking around the kids and most of the events appear to be kid friendly.

Any objections?

That would be totally cool. We might recommend the Best Western or Ramada motels rather than The Hitching Post though.

Kids should love the Santa Cruz Boardwalk. And I believe we confirmed that the rides and rollercoasters are going to be open that weekend. Not sure what the pub's policy on kids is though for Saturday night. It's not one of those family-style food-serving pubs (unfortunately). Not to mention the smoking in the bar... But that's just one portion of the weekend. You could always go to a nearby restaurant and then stop by solo to the pub. Or whatever. It's a weekend-long celebration!

Thanks for being open to allowing me to bring the children along. They are 2 years and 6 months respectively, so it's pretty easy to drag them around. I'm looking into places to stay right now because I was able to confirm our ride out there.

I'm excited to come and chill with some cool cats. Next week I will pass along a couple of phone numbers that I can be reached at so that we can communicate by voice on the final leg of the trip.

argh, you guys are going to have a blast. I won't be able to make it. Budgetary constraints and all. But please, have a beer or five for me.

Oh hell yeah Jaime! You'll be there in spirit. And we know not everyone who might come will be able to visit this time. But we're doing it all again in March and again next October. So there's going to be plenty of opportunities.
